Every now and then I’m at my local karaoke joint
And I’m surrounded by all sorts of lovely people
Some drunk, some sober, some in-between
And I strike a conversation with a
Pretty lady, blonde, brunette or otherwise
And I start to feel that connection and spark
And my palms sweat, and my heart yearns
And I get all these ideas
And before I get too attached
I make sure to give them the business card
I always carry in my pocket
On my way out the door.
It reads:
“Legendary Writer, Poet and Disability Advocate
Phone #???-????
Website Address”
This business card is a gateway to my entire life story;
My writing
My thought
My actions
My history
By background
My disability
And I’d say 9 times out of 10
The lady never speaks or looks at me again
And it can sometimes hurt…
But then there is that one that is mysteriously
Drawn to my wild, unorthodox vibes
And we hit it off and sparks fly
I’ve found
This trick is the best way
To weed out the bad ones
Before you get too attached
In the disability dating game.
