What is Paranoid Schizophrenia?

Paranoid schizophrenia, according to medical science, is a thought disorder in which the afflicted has delusions and hallucinations for an extended period of time. It affects approximately 1% of the population.

These patterns of thinking include persecutory delusions in which the schizophrenic believes that people are harming them in some manner, despite all evidence to the contrary. Hallucinations may occur in which the afflicted hears voices that don’t exist and often work in tangent with the delusions to create a “false world” in which the Schizophrenic lives.

It is a bizarre and difficult disease to understand for others, who do not see and experience the world as a schizophrenic does. Many loved ones distance themselves from the afflicted as they find it difficult to deal with the Schizophrenics illness.

There are medical treatments which help subside the symptoms, but science has yet to find a cure.
